It all began with a trip to NYC and the
infamous Westminster Kennel Club dog show. We couldn't pry ourselves away from
the Kerry ring! They were such beautiful, majestic looking dogs. In the months
following that show, the vision of those dogs prancing around the ring wouldn't
leave our minds.
Enter into the picture Kelsey. Although not purchased as a show dog he started his conformation career at 15
months of age. Amazingly, he was a finished champion by 18 months. His show career was
quick and to the point and he accomplished some nice wins. He won
4 majors, 2 of which were supported entries by the Empire Kerry Blue Terrier
Club. Another major was at the prestigious Westchester Kennel
Club show. Kelsey has also completed two herding instinct certifications, one in Pennsylvania and the other in Connecticut.
After he finished, the
decision was made to get a female Kerry. We were very excited when we got the
call that she had been born. She started her show career at 10 months of age
and was a finished champion, with four majors, by the time she was only one
year old. She was only shown for three weekends! In 2005, she was a top ten Kerry Blue terrier in the United States
and we couldn't have been more thrilled! With very limited showing in 2006 she still remained in the top 20. Indy has also completed her Herding Instinct Certification here in Arizona.
